Excellent experience!
I came here for dinner and since the moment I walked in till the moment I left everything was amazing. Food is exceptional. Service and atmosphere amazing.
We followed the recommendations from the server and didn’t regret. Dinner without drinks $103 for two (excluding tips). Very good price for the quality you get. Highly recommend.

This Japanese restaurant is truly in a league of its own when it comes to authenticity and freshness. Their commitment to serving only the freshest fish is unparalleled - no frozen fish here! They source their ingredients daily and go to great lengths to ensure the utmost safety and quality. The service is nothing short of excellent, with a staff that’s not only friendly but also incredibly attentive to your needs. The restaurant itself maintains a consistently neat, clean, and inviting ambiance. If you’re seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience in Miami, look no further - this place is a true gem.
First off, anyone giving this 5 stars has NO Idea what it’s like to eat great sushi. The sushi is about a 6/10 but the prices of the place are as if it was a 10/10. I thought for $250 +++ it must be world class. It’s nothing of the sort.
The other reason you could charge that much for average sushi is if the place had amazing ambiance. But it’s in a store front of a low end apartment building. This space should be for a metro PCS or maybe a pollo tropical - not a super expensive sushi spot. There are about 10 tables packed in next to each other 20 feet from the street.
I can’t see how anyone is paying $40 for two pieces of their nigiri and returning, thinking it was good. The dessert was tiny, a little tiny pot of melted sorbet.
If it was half the price is would totally work as a go to weeknight sushi spot. But if you are looking for a dining experience, you will be severely disappointed.
Step into Hiyakawa in Miami and you'll find yourself in what feels like a japanese zen garden—an oasis of tranquility, blending serenity and sophistication. Warm wood tones punctuated by splashes of artful lighting. The ambiance hums with a gentle buzz of conversation coupled with the blissful tap of chopsticks and the gentle clink of sake ceramic cups, the latter which is selected by you from a thoughfully curated box.
Now, let's delve into the food. The sake was smooth, aromatic, and the perfect companion for what lies ahead. Of course you must begin with the edamame as the opening act, a familiar tune and staple at these types of places. I was unsure about the wagyu gyoza dumpling, but my hesitation was quickly quelled and dismissed as it was super juicy, tender and flavorful. It's the dumpling diva that stole the spotlight. The sakana karaage was a crispy delight where the exterior crackles in your mouth. Next, on to the sushi lineup. The wagyu nigiri is like butter on a cloud, melting with each delicate bite. The salmon is a splash of coral elegance on your plate. The mackerel, kanpachi, yellowtail, scallop, and snapper all showcase the ocean's finest. Now, I've got to spill the beans—while everything was top-notch, the fish nigiri was the understudy, good but not stealing the show. And for the sweet finale, the yuzu cream brulee is like a dessert mic drop. Creamy, citrusy, and the perfect ending to a sushi saga leaving you with a dessert induced smile.
The service and hospitality is impeccable. The staff at Hiyakawa are like culinary ninjas, silently anticipating your every need and making you feel like they are there just to exclusively serve you and only you.
What an incredible experience.
Amazing selection of niguiris, everything so tasteful and fresh. The rice was something else, perfect bite, seasoning and temperature.
Unfortunately we couldn't try the omakase because our toddler was with us. But the a la carte menu has excelent choices and the maitre Miguel was spot on on the recomendations.
The service deserves a michelin star by itself. Very discreet, glasses never empty and super attentious. Jerry was fantastic as our waiter and demonstrated knowledge and passion about the food that was being served.
Great dining.
the food was delicious, we mainly recommend the wagyu gyoza (seasonal), chicken karaage, shishito and scallop nigiri (seasonal)! our main complaint was that we had a reservation at 9 and weren’t seated until 9:40 but that’s due to the limited seating and previous party taking their time, will definitely be back!
The best meal we had in Miami. Authentic Japanese dishes in a lovely carefully designed space with super staff.
